Who we are

Photograph of some of the original Mormon settlers of Cardston, Alberta, including Charles Ora Card, for whom Cardston was named. He is pictured on the second row, fourth from left.

The Cardston & District Historical Society brings to life the region’s unique history in a way that inspires individuals, fosters community building and honours our heritage for present and future generations.

The CDHS collects, preserves, researches, and exhibits inspiring stories, objects and archival materials that illustrate the founding and development of Cardston and surrounding area. The materials available on our website and in the buildings we operate help visitors and researchers understand how people of southwestern Alberta lived and how our communities developped.

In short, We Have Stories That Inspire People!
